What we did
This site was built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA as a target. That is a target rather than a certification, and the honest position is that no site is ever finished on this.
- Every image carries alternative text describing what is in it, or is marked decorative where it carries no information.
- Headings follow a real outline. There is one main heading per page and levels are not skipped.
- Every section is named, so a screen reader can list and jump between them.
- Text colour was checked against its background for contrast, including the blue used on buttons.
- The whole site works with a keyboard, and focus is visible when you tab.
- Motion is reduced automatically if your device asks for that. Animations are enhancement, never the only way something is communicated.
- Phone numbers are links, so one tap dials on a phone.
- Text can be resized without the layout breaking or content being cut off.
Where we know we are not there yet
Being specific is more useful than claiming completeness:
- Content embedded from other companies, such as our Instagram feed or a map, is built by them and we do not control its accessibility.
- Online booking runs on a separate scheduling system with its own interface and its own accessibility standard.
- Documents such as forms may not all meet the same standard as the website itself.
If something does not work for you
Tell us, and be as specific as you can manage. What page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you use if you use one. That is far more useful than a general report and it means we can actually fix it.
