What Invisalign actually involves
Invisalign is a series of clear plastic trays, each one slightly different, that move your teeth a little at a time. You wear each set for about a week, take them out to eat and to brush, and swap to the next.
Because the trays are removable there is no list of foods you cannot have, and cleaning your teeth stays the same as it always was. Most people who meet you will not notice you are wearing them.
Your aligners are planned from a digital scan taken in our own chair, so there are no impression trays and you can see the projected result before you commit to anything.

Dr. Jason Nguyen looks after invisalign at our Bishop Arts practice. You see the same dentist at every visit, so nobody starts your treatment over.
What it costs, and how people pay
Price depends on what you actually need, so we look first and tell you the number before anything starts. What we can tell you now is how it gets paid for.
- Insured. In network with most major PPO plans, and your benefits get checked before treatment is planned.
- Medicaid or CHIP. Both accepted, which a lot of Dallas practices will not do.
- No insurance. Our membership plan covers cleanings, exams and routine x-rays from $30 a month, with 20% off other treatment.
- Larger treatment. Cherry, Sunbit and HFD payment plans spread the cost.
Invisalign questions
- How long does Invisalign take?
- It depends entirely on how far the teeth have to move. Simple cases are measured in months and complex ones can take longer. After the scan we can give you a projected timeline for your specific case rather than an average.
- Does Invisalign hurt?
- There is usually pressure and mild soreness for a day or two after moving to a new set of trays, because that is the teeth being moved. Most people describe it as tightness rather than pain.
- How many hours a day do I have to wear them?
- Align's guidance is 20 to 22 hours a day, out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. Treatment slows down if the trays sit in a drawer.
- Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
- Many plans include orthodontic benefits that apply to Invisalign the same as braces, though not every plan does. We check your benefits before treatment is planned so the number is clear up front.
