About Dr. Nguyen
Dr. Jason Nguyen is an orthodontist, and he grew up here. Dallas born, Jesuit College Prep, then back to the city he is from after eleven years of training for it.
I am excited for the opportunity to return home and serve the community that shaped me.

An orthodontist, not a dentist who does braces
Any dentist may legally offer orthodontic treatment. An orthodontist has completed a full residency in it afterwards, which is a separate two to three year specialty programme with its own admission process.
Dr. Nguyen did his at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, earning both the orthodontics certificate and a Master of Science, and was selected Chief Resident by his programme. He stayed on as a graduate orthodontics teaching assistant.
Training
He read Human Biology at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with University Honors, then took his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Texas A&M College of Dentistry on an academic scholarship.
At Texas A&M he was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honour society, which is limited to a small percentage of each graduating class, and served as President of the Odontological Honor Society.
Published research
He has two peer reviewed publications. The first, in the Journal of Dental Research, examined type IX collagen distribution in the periodontal ligament, the tissue that actually does the work when a tooth is moved. The second, in the Journal of Dental Education, surveyed orthodontic residents on their training.

How he works with patients
His own summary is that he prides himself on connecting with patients through clear and compassionate communication, and on executing treatment plans with efficiency and precision. In practice that means you should leave the consultation knowing what is being moved, why, how long it will take and what it costs, before anything is fitted.
He treats both Invisalign and traditional braces here, and sees children for early orthodontic assessment from around age seven.
